real SAVINGS

Planning a Hawaii vacation and hoping to find a great deal on a resort? You’re in the right place.

I keep a close eye on hotel pricing across the islands and update this page regularly with some of the best Hawaii hotel deals I’m seeing right now, including family-friendly resorts on Maui, Oahu, Kauai, and the Big Island.

Sometimes these discounts come from seasonal promotions, sometimes from member pricing through sites like Expedia, and sometimes from resorts quietly lowering their rates during slower booking windows.

Because pricing changes often, I try to focus on properties that consistently offer strong value for families — whether that means spacious suites, condo-style units with kitchens, or resorts with great pools and beach access.

Below you’ll find some of the best deals I’m currently seeing across the islands.

“Working with Flo was the best decision we made for this trip. She helped us choose the right room and prepared us for everything ahead of time. She was incredibly thoughtful, responsive, and thorough throughout the entire planning process. Flo truly went above and beyond, and we’re so thankful we worked with her.”

Best Family-Friendly Resort Deal by Island

Hawaii is made up of four main visitor islands — Maui, Oahu, Kauai, and the Big Island — and each one offers a very different type of vacation experience.

Some resorts are best for families who want easy beach access and lots of activities, while others work better for travelers looking for space, condo-style accommodations, or quieter settings.

How To Book These Deals

Many of the prices you’ll see on this page come from limited-time promotions or member discounts.

Because these deals change frequently, the best approach is usually to:

• check multiple travel dates
• compare room categories
• book refundable rates if possible

That way you can lock in a good price now and adjust later if plans change.

Maui

OUTRIGGER Kaanapali Beach Resort (Maui)

If you’ve been eyeing a true beachfront stay in Maui but don’t want to spend Four Seasons-level money, this is one of the best-value options I’m seeing right now. It’s right on Kaanapali Beach, recently refreshed, and walkable to everything—so you can skip a rental car for at least part of your trip.

For a family of four in June, I’m currently seeing rooms around $397/night (about $3,677 total for the week), which is a big drop for this location—especially for summer travel.

Why Families Love It

  • You’re directly on Kaanapali Beach (no shuttles, no packing up the car)
  • Walkable to Whalers Village for easy meals, snacks, and shopping
  • Two queen beds that actually sleep a family of four comfortably
  • Recently renovated rooms with a clean, modern feel
  • Free area shuttle + super central location
  • On-site dining (including Maui Brewing Company), so you’re not scrambling at the end of the day

Booking Tip

This is one of those properties where location is doing a lot of the heavy lifting. You’re getting a true beachfront Kaanapali stay for hundreds less per night than nearby resorts. I’d prioritize at least a partial ocean view here if it fits your budget—it’s worth it in this location.

Oahu

Fireworks on the beach in Waikiki for Friday night fireworks.

OUTRIGGER Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel (Oahu)

If you want to stay in Waikiki without blowing your entire budget on a beachfront resort, this is one of the best-value options I’m seeing right now. You’re just a short walk to the beach, right in the middle of everything, and the overall vibe feels fun, modern, and easy for families.

For a family of four in June, I’m currently seeing rooms around $251–$268/night (about $2,400–$2,600 total), which is a really solid price point for this location.

Why Families Love It

  • Walkable to Waikiki Beach in just a few minutes
  • Right next to International Market Place, so food and shopping are incredibly easy
  • Two double beds that work well for families (harder to find in Waikiki than you’d think)
  • On-site pool and hot tub for easy downtime between outings
  • Live music and entertainment give it a fun, lively feel without being overwhelming
  • Maui Brewing Company on-site for a super easy dinner option

Booking Tip
This is one of my favorite picks for families who want to be in Waikiki without paying premium beachfront prices. You’re trading direct beach access for a lower nightly rate, but in this location, it’s a very easy trade-off.

kauai

Kauai Shores Hotel (Kauai)

If you’re looking for an affordable beachfront stay on Kauai that still feels cute, updated, and easy for families, this is one of the best-value options I’m seeing right now. It’s right on the Royal Coconut Coast, recently renovated, and has that laid-back, no-frills-in-a-good-way kind of vibe.

For a family of four in June, I’m currently seeing rooms around $283–$348/night (about $2,600–$3,100 total), which is a great price point for a true oceanfront stay on Kauai.

Why Families Love It

  • Direct beachfront access with a wide, sandy shoreline
  • Two pools and a hot tub, which is a big win on Kauai
  • Walkable to Coconut Marketplace for easy food and snacks
  • Recently renovated rooms that feel clean and refreshed
  • Free parking, which helps keep overall trip costs down
  • Lava Lava Beach Club on-site for super easy meals right on the water

Booking Tip
This is one of the best options on Kauai if you want to stay on the beach without jumping into luxury pricing. It’s not a full-service resort, but for the price and location, it’s a really strong value.

Big Island

Luxury resort pool at sunset with palm trees overlooking the ocean in Hawaii

Mauna Lani, Auberge Collection (Big Island)

If you’re looking for a luxury Hawaii stay that actually feels calm, intentional, and worth the price tag, this is one of the strongest deals I’m seeing right now. Mauna Lani is one of those properties that people come back from and immediately say, “that was different in the best way.”

For a family of four in June, I’m currently seeing rooms starting around $961–$1,008/night (about $8,400–$8,800 total), which is a meaningful drop for a property at this level, especially during summer.

Why Families Love It

  • Protected lagoon that’s perfect for snorkeling with kids (calm water, tons of fish, often turtles)
  • Thoughtful kids club and family programming that actually feels elevated
  • Two pools plus a separate children’s pool so it never feels overcrowded
  • Spacious rooms with two queen beds that work well for families
  • Walkable grounds with a slower, more peaceful feel than many Big Island resorts
  • Easy access to Mauna Lani Historic Park for a little culture mixed into your beach days

Booking Tip

This is one of those stays where you’re paying for the experience, not just the room. If it fits your budget, it’s worth it. Look for partial ocean view or ocean view rooms if you can swing it, but even the entry-level rooms here feel elevated compared to most resorts.

Psst… You could book that hotel yourself, or you could let me handle it and roll up feeling like a VIP. As a member of the Virtuoso network, I can unlock Hawaii’s most exclusive resort perks and amenities to elevate your stay.

Tips for Finding the Best Hawaii Hotel Deals

A few small strategies can make a big difference when booking hotels in Hawaii.

Be flexible with your travel dates
Prices can vary significantly depending on the week you travel. Even shifting your stay by a few days can sometimes reduce nightly rates.

Check multiple room categories
Sometimes the biggest savings appear in specific room types like garden view or partial ocean view rooms.

Look at condo-style resorts for families
Properties with kitchens and separate bedrooms often provide more space and better value for families compared to standard hotel rooms. It’s typically best to book vacation rentals through VRBO.

Book refundable rates when possible
If prices drop later, you can often rebook at the lower rate.

When is the Best Time to Book Hawaii Resorts?

3 to 6 months in advance

Hawaii is a year-round destination, but hotel pricing tends to fluctuate throughout the year.

In general, the most competitive hotel pricing appears:

• late spring
• early fall
• during seasonal sales

Summer and holiday travel dates are typically the most expensive, so finding a good deal during those periods can be especially valuable.

If you’re planning a family trip to Hawaii, it’s usually best to start watching prices 3–6 months before travel so you can grab a good rate when it appears.
